Run Rudolph Run - Navy Band Southwest
It broke my father’s heart having to retire from the Navy. He’d look out over the ocean at Sunset Cliffs in San Diego and I always imagined he was thinking back to his Navy days. This song captures what my old man may have been feeling. At least it’s the closest I could imagine.
I'm U. S. Coast Guard retired and this gives me goosebumps. I served on three large Coast Guard cutters in my 29 year career. A wonderful rendition.
Hooyah from NAVSTA Rota Spain
Hooyah
My brother is currently deployed on ship with his crew, i miss him dearly
Awesome voices man. You can feel the emotions. Realy good. Thanks for your love in this song
Beautiful
Incredibly beautiful. Thank you. Salute from Belgium.
Well sung all of you. Props to the bass, solid and smooth.
Beautiful
I was the captain of a sailing ship for five years, the Barque Lioness. When she went to the yard some years ago i knew she'd be the last square-rigger i'd command. Im 78 years old. I hummed this tune when i walked away from her for the last time. Sad then. Sad now.
you all look handsome in your sailor fad
beautiful voice
Are sailors allowed to sing aboard their ships? Or does it cause a distraction even if they don't do it out loud?
We are allowed to sing. If we don't cause too much problems
This version sends chills down my spine.
A beautiful tribute.
This is a wonderful evocative song and the singing is excellent...that said one of the images of warships is that of a WWII Nazi Kriegsmarine battle cruiser (Gneisenau/Scharnhorst) which I believe was not your intention as they are similar in some appearance to USN warships of that era. While the mystic of the sea appeals across nationalities I don't think you wanted to associate your wonderfful rendition of this shanty with the despicable history of the Nazi regime - especially as representatives of the USN. For your due consideration. Paul Seguna Lieutenant Commander RCN (Ret'd)
I sing this to my Daughters when they go to sleep :)
Your daughters will probably become sailors if they grow up with sea shanties
My uncle was a part of the Navy I think of my uncle still every day
I think this is one of the best tributes for Stan Roger’s, navy’s actively carrying on his legacy not only in his music, but also in his memory but in memoriam of all those sailors and ships who came before. I truly believe Stan would be filled with joy knowing how this song has impacted people all around the world.
This song is much older than Stan Rogers.
@@YourGodStalin it is, but Stan Rogers is who made it mainstream and in my opinion, perfected it with his rendition of the song. So while it isn't technically his song, I still think that this does pay homage to him, as well as the others who came before
Beautiful!
As I listen to this I think of my father. He served 30 years in the US Navy serving from 1943 to 1973 aboard numerous ships. He is still with us at the age of 97. I love you Dad!
Praise be to God!
God Bless this man and thank you Sir for your service to the free world. Love from the UK..Please tell your Dad from me, my thanks.
🫡💕
Airman here to support you Navy as much as possible!
Also: so envious when I heard your group marching around Lackland with your cadence.
It's chanty.
Oh man the face diapers. Heroic
😂good news is if you're looking for the chow hall, these guys clearly know exactly where it's at, and can tell you the menu from memory on the way there😂
The best version of Leave her Johnny for sure, hats down to you gentlemen.
The harmonies, sweet jesus.
Chills and memories, mates. Faith and begorrah you're so excellent. Thank you!
The irony of this video is that this particular song describes how fed up the crew are with the conditions on board and life at sea and is traditionally most often sung by the deck crew of merchant ships or pirate vessels near the end of a voyage to give cheek to the higher-ups, with verses often improvised to include traits of the ranked crew members. It would never be sung on a naval ship due to the expectation that the crew would maintain respect for the chain of command at all times.
I was in the Navy, served from 2013 - 2021 and I left her. That ship really was a rotten tub. Good riddance!
What ship you served on?
'For those who've gone on, those who've left too soon, their melody never fades, it lingers til those who remember it have gone, too.'
That was very beautiful. Thank you for sharing and Merry Christmas 🙏
Nicely done....
That was incredibly tight!
Loved it! Great to see you guys and hear you play again.
Way to go! Nice Bossa!
Nicely done!
Awesome
Oh… hooyah. Such a soothing arrangement.

I’m not crying! Your crying!
Smooth harmony
I would like a quartet consisting of an Irishman, Scotsman, Aussie and a Kiwi singing this cuz their accents are different
Is there a way to purchase this arrangement?
Outstanding job, gents, really fine singing.
Is that Happy Feet ??? He’s awesome, saw him during San Francisco Fleet Week 2022.
Alexander is the new Elvis
Is that timthetatman
Wish basic had been in San Diego for me, but I guess it was a mixed blessing to be in Great Mistakes, Illinois in the middle of winter. Also wish I had chosen the Navy band instead of the Seabees, could have put my musical talent to good use.
